Back from Summer Camp

We had a great time at summer camp, swimming, hiking, earning merit badges, and swatting mosquitoes.  School and Troop meetings are about to start up again, so now what?

One of the most important things you can do is double check your "partial" merit badges.  Sometimes it is just impossible to get all the requirements done at camp, so you get a "partial," and you need to finish the requirements up at home.  There isn't a time limit to complete merit badges, so it is possible to try to finish up at summer camp next year, but that is a bad idea.  Most merit badges that don't get finished in a couple of months are NEVER finished.

First, check with the assistant scoutmaster keeping the records, and make sure that they've got your partial merit badges recorded in the computer.  You might not have received a partial "blue card" from the camp counselor, as some camps just print a summary for the Troop and hand it off to the Scoutmaster.  So make sure that the completed requirements have been recorded, and you know which requirements you still need to complete.

Next, as the Scoutmaster to put you in touch with a merit badge counselor who can help you complete and then sign off on the incomplete requirements.  Troop 186 can find a merit badge counselor for almost anything.  Then complete the requirements, get a blue card signed, and turn it in to the Troop advancement record keeper.
